Leadership for consultants

The NHS has recently undergone unprecedented changes that have not only reshaped organisational structures, but have also had an impact on people, system power and patient expectation. Health care practitioners need to work together to deliver better patient care: to do that effectively demands new knowledge, different leadership skills and behaviours.

This programme will help doctors who are considering how best to be influential at the consultant level to make informed decisions and to be more effective leaders.

Who is it for?

This programme is for new or established medical consultants and those considering a clinical director role in the future.

How will you benefit from this programme?

Fantastic programme that exceeded my expectations - I now really feel ready and able to lead!

Consultant, NHS trust

This programme will allow you to develop a network of peers who will be supportive and challenging both during and beyond the duration of the programme. You will grow as a role model for junior doctors and be better equipped to lead a positive clinical environment for trainees and patients.

What will you do on this programme?

The course gave me the opportunity to personally develop and acquire new skills so that I can deliver better patient care.

Consultant, NHS trust

Throughout the programme you will be introduced to a range of leadership theories, techniques and behaviours that will stretch and challenge your current leadership practice and you will be introduced to parts of the system that are unfamiliar to you.
