This is an intensive five day programme based at The King's Fund in central London designed specifically for clinicians who are new to management and leadership roles. Our aims are to give you the skills and confidence needed to lead and manage in the rapidly changing NHS and to ensure you have the tools needed to support your future development

Work with people from a range of clinical backgrounds

Those in management and leadership roles are charged with the responsibility of encouraging multi-disciplinary groups to work together effectively – a task that presents significant personal and professional challenges. This programme will give you the opportunity to explore these challenges in a constructive way, deepening your awareness of a variety of perspectives, by bringing you together with participants from an array of different backgrounds

Develop the skills needed to become a successful manager

We aim to help you understand the different world views of managers. You will learn to differentiate between leadership and management, gain insight into what it means to be political and find out how to use this to help develop your services. You will also develop their strategic influencing skills and your capacity to lead change successfully

Become more self-aware

You will acquire a deeper understanding of your identity, values and roles and will explore how they impact on your behaviour and your relationships with others

Learn how to become a stronger leader

You will learn how to get the best from people by communicating and negotiating more effectively.

Benefits

Benefits

This programme will give you the chance to step back from your day-to-day responsibilities, reflect on your capabilities, and make plans for the future. You will strengthen your ability to assess priorities, manage time and lead change, and will deepen your self-understanding by reflecting on your strengths and limitations.

The programme offers insight into the perspectives of those from other clinical disciplines, with differing personality types and communication styles, which can often be a source of conflict in relationships.

The programme will also introduce you to a network of colleagues within the health sector, which can provide a source of support to your development in the future.
