Pat Brand
Pat was Programme Director of the Board Leadership Programme for the NHS London Region and the Athena Programme for executive women until 2004. She has been a co-director of the NHS Senior Chief Executive’s Programme and the Johnson and Johnson Nursing Leadership Programme. She previously ran her own consultancy with a particular focus on the interface between personal and organisational change. She has consistently worked at executive level in unique situations of complex organisational development in both the private and public sectors.
Eden Charles
Eden has 20 years’ consultancy experience and has a passion for success and the ability to make it a reality. He is an innovative, challenging thinker whose personal style enables him to work alongside his clients through the difficult issues they face. He has been a coach and consultant to leaders of a variety of multinational organisations all over the world, including the armed forces, NGOs, local government, the police force, the NHS, financial institutions, the oil industry, and education. Eden also regularly works with international businesses and NGOs to increase their organisational capacity.
Anita Houghton
Anita originally trained in public and community health. In 2000 she took up the post of Associate Dean in postgraduate medicine for the London Deanery, where she developed leadership programmes for junior doctors and new consultants. She has been coaching managers, doctors and other professionals for the past six years, and has run training programmes for consultants, junior doctors and GPs, on the subjects of leadership, career development, team-working, assertiveness, and the use of psychological type to enhance effectiveness in the workplace.
Ghislaine Kenyon
Ghislaine became Deputy Head of Education at the National Gallery after a teaching career. She also writes, lectures and broadcasts on art education. She recently started a project called Take Art, a partnership between the National Gallery and children in hospital. Take Art has now also been extended to involve medical students and doctors and there are further plans for a similar scheme working with prisoners. She was Head of Learning at the Courtauld Institute until 2007.
Martin Land
Following 10 years' experience as a senior NHS manager, Martin has developed consultancy and research skills through a wide variety of projects undertaken at KPMG, YHEC and now as an Associate of the King’s Fund and Director of Landmark Health Consulting. Martin has experience with working with large organisational change projects, such as enabling trusts to achieve successful NHS Foundation status.
Val Martin
Val has wide managerial experience, most recently as chief executive of an acute NHS trust. She runs leadership programmes for clinicians, managers, and community and voluntary leaders. Her particular interests are the nature and value of leadership, and how organisations and leaders can foster an environment and culture that enable individuals to realise their maximum potential.
John McClenahan
John was a Fellow in Leadership Development from 1985 until 2004 but continues to work for the Fund as an Associate. He joined the Fund after 15 years with Arthur Andersen & Co (now Accenture). John has 30 years of experience in working in both public and private sectors. He works at all levels of the health service from front line service delivery teams and general practices to regional and national levels, in hospital and community health services and family health services.
Peter Mumford
Peter has worked with the King’s Fund for 12 years. He is a consultant in organisation and leadership development, with a strong commitment to improving public health services. He works with whole organisations: hospitals, health authorities, local authorities and general practices, and with senior management groups, boards, clinical teams and with individual leaders. He has designed and directed a great variety of leadership development programmes for clinicians and senior managers.
Allison Trimble
Allison is a Leadership Associate with experience in leadership development, facilitation and community participation. She specialises in work with community leaders and works with clients across the voluntary, public and private sectors to develop creative apporoaches to participation and to facilitate more integrated leadership of local partnerships. Allison was previously Chief Executive of the Bromley By Bow Centre, an integrated health and regeneration project in Tower Hamlets. She is a Neighbourhood Renewal Adviser and an Associate of the Centre for Innovation in Healthcare Management at Leeds University where she leads on work with Third Sector organisations.
Amanda Wilsher
Amanda has pioneered arts training for the business community, initiating the highly successful programme run by acclaimed mask company, Trestle Theatre. Her unique approach to personal and team development brings together her creative talents and skills as a theatre director and facilitator/trainer. Her workshops focus on individual and team development through a range of theatre exercises, games and mask work. Using fun as a key element to real learning, her sessions are non-threatening, instructive and highly enjoyable.
Janet Wilson
Janet is a highly-skilled facilitator and coach with experience in marketing and communications in the health and leisure industry. She has an outstanding record of implementing lasting change in organisations across three continents. Since 2000 she has changed her focus to supporting personal learning and professional development, working with individuals and teams in the private and public sector throughout the UK, at both strategic and operational levels. Janet specialises in effective communication and she enjoys supporting teams to develop the skills they need to deliver high quality services.
