Who is it for?
This programme is for specialist trainees aiming to reach consultant level and for newly appointed consultants. It is suitable for any specialism.
Benefits of this leadership development programme
Many participants tell us that the skills they learnt on this programme are absolutely essential in helping them secure a consultant's post, or making a success of a new post. It is a vital part of stepping up to an NHS leadership role.
In particular, participants will learn how to adapt to working in increasingly business-like environments, with more private sector competition and more partnership working across the public and voluntary sectors. Participants will develop a more strategic perspective not only of their own specialism, but of the NHS as a whole. They'll also get the chance to develop new and lasting support networks for the future.
What will you do on this programme?
Participants may come into this programme knowing little about management in the NHS, or having a negative perception of what they do know. By the end they'll have a deep understanding of why clinicians are critical to the future leadership of the service.
The programme content is constantly updated to reflect the issues participants can expect to encounter in their workplace, including the relationship between clinical practice and management.
