Board Leadership Programme

About this event

Please note that this event has been postponed and will be re-arranged in 2013.

Torbay has been hailed as an exemplar site for integrated care in England, with the focus of integration clearly being on improving care for the end user. Dealing with an ageing population suffering multiple co-morbidities, leaders in the Torbay health and social care system identified an imperative to work differently in order to offer high-quality, sustainable care in the current climate.

Peter Colclough and Mandy Seymour will lead this event, sharing their very practical experience of integration and reflecting on the challenges and opportunities for integration in the current political environment.

Please invite your executive board members and clinical commissioning group colleagues to this event.

Peter Colclough

Peter Colclough joined Weston Area Health NHS Trust as Interim Chief Executive in September 2011 to lead the acute services organisation and to work with partners in the area to develop more integrated health and social care services in North Somerset.

Peter had been Chief Executive of the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust since early 2009, stabilising it during a period of great challenge with the Trust now pursuing a Foundation Trust status.

Prior to that, Peter was Chief Executive of Torbay Care Trust, a pioneering NHS organisation bringing together community health services and adult social care with considerable benefits to patients. He has worked in the NHS for more than 30 years and previously held Chief Executive positions in Health Authorities in Devon and Gloucestershire.

Mandy Seymour

Mandy Seymour was appointed by Torbay Care Trust in 2004 as the first General Manager to pilot health and social care integration in Torbay. She has created several new roles within the trust to support integrated care, one being the role of the health and social care co-ordinator; a pivotal role in each of the Torbay’s five zone teams providing a single point of contact for GP’s, professionals and users alike. Mandy was appointed as Torbay’s Chief Operating Officer in June 2009 and Deputy Chief Executive Officer in April 2011 where she continues to strive to deliver benefits to the population of Torbay and Southern Devon.
