Recruitment for NLH Steering Groups
The King's Fund is looking for motivated personnel from the health and well-being community to serve on steering groups for the following two National Library for Health (NLH) contracted online resources:
- Health Management Specialist Library (HMSL) - a well-established specialist library
- Commissioning Specialist Library (CSL) - a newly-contracted specialist library, pilot to be launched in Summer 2008.
The specialist libraries aim to provide:
- timely and efficient access to the best available information and evidence
- a one-stop shop for busy professionals from the health and well-being community
- information to facilitate informed decision-making to achieve professional and corporate objectives.
Target audiences
HMSL:
- Health managers
- Clinical leaders
- Other personnel within the health and wellbeing community with a management function
CSL:
- Commissioning directors, leads and managers
- Other personnel within the health and well-being community with a commissioning, contracting and procurement function.
The role of the steering groups will be:
- to provide a strategic overview for the development of the Specialist Library
- to serve as a sounding board on future content of the Specialist Libraries and specific advice on development
- to assist the Specialist Library team in shaping the service for the future.
How to apply
We are looking for applications from middle and senior level personnel from the health and well-being community. Applicants must:
- commit to attending meetings held at least twice a year at the King's Fund in London
- be willing to take a full and active role in meetings
- be willing to be contacted on an ad hoc basis for any advice or guidance on aspects of the Specialist Library development.
If you wish to apply, please contact Ray Phillips, Valerie Wildridge or Tim Judkins, outlining your experience and why you are interested in applying. Alternatively, telephone 020 7307 2562.
User champions
In order to broaden our engagement with actual and potential users of these two resources, we are also seeking to set up a larger group called 'User champions'. This group will not duplicate the steering group, their role will be to actively engage with the CSL's and HMSL's development on a regular basis and act as ambassadors for the two libraries.
Channels of communication will generally be via email, phone or other networking tools, and it is not envisaged that this group will have formal face-to-face meetings. If you are interested in this aspect of supporting the development of the Specialist Libraries, please contact Tim Judkins or Valerie Wildridge.
