Over the years, we have supported hundreds of projects to improve health and health care for Londoners. Details of some of these projects are given below.

Our approach to funding has recently changed, with the launch of our Partners for Health in London scheme in 2005.

Deciding for Ourselves

Funding has been awarded for the Bromley by Bow Centre to develop a programme for sexual health promotion work with the Bangladeshi community

Community Integrated Sexual Health Initiative (CISHI)

Raising awareness on safer sex and encouraging early testing for sexually transmitted infections especially HIV/AIDS within the African community attending protestant churches.

The CACTUS Study: Classical acupuncture treatment for people with unexplained symptoms

The aim of this study is to understand and quantify the effects of offering primary care patients with persistent medically unexplained symptoms the opportunity to integrate five-element acupuncture into their health care.

Mental Health Advocacy for Somali Refugees and Asylum Seekers

Funding has been awarded to offer advocacy to Somali refugees who have serious mental health problems, using an advocate who has the same ethnic and cultural background and language.

Sexual Health Peer Education in Muslim Communities

Voluntary Action Camden are developing and implementing a peer education programme for the Somali and Bangladeshi communities, to improve sexual health knowledge, attitutes and awareness of young people.

Sexual Health Access and Resources Project (SHARP)

Training will be delivered to voluntary workers and individuals from faith groups from the Black African/Caribbean communities.

End-stage Heart Failure: An Integrated Support Package for Carers

This project aims to provide a single point of contact of care for patients with end stage heart failure and their carers.
