Why this event

Why this event?

'Nothing about me, without me.' The NHS White Paper.

In his first speech as health secretary, the Rt Hon Andrew Lansley CBE MP, highlighted the need to focus on outcomes for patients and how learning from patient experience will be of great importance in designing and improving services. NHS staff want to provide good care for their patients, and at a time when the NHS is under huge pressure to make cost savings, providing good care for patients needs to be at the centre of decisions around making savings.

This conference will look at practical ways to transform the experience of patients and staff in order to develop a high-quality, cost-effective health care service.

Key topics include:

  • the role of the Board in the governance of experience of care
  • creating a whole organisation approach to improving patient experience
  • practical methods for involving patients in service design and improvement
  • good practice in measuring patient experience
  • effective methods of staff support.

During the day delegates will:

  • explore how patient experience can be improved whilst cost savings are made
  • consider the role of Boards in supporting staff to make the changes that will result in improved outcomes for patients
  • hear from organisations and patients who are working together to improve services
  • learn about practical solutions that offer real potential to create sustainable change.
