Public health: a new direction?

A free breakfast event with Public Health Minister, Anne Milton MP

In brief

Public health is a key priority for the coalition. Its programme for government highlights the need for an ambitious strategy that encourages behaviour change to help people live healthier lives, gives local communities more control over public health budgets and provides GPs with stronger incentives to tackle public health problems.

Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Public Health, Anne Milton MP, joined us to discuss the implications of the reforms for public health. She also outlined the government’s vision for a ‘public health service’, and set the scene for a public health white paper due to be published later this year.
