NHS Leadership and Management Summit
Event highlights
This inaugural summit launched the findings of the Commission on Leadership and Management in the NHS and showcased the very best of leadership and change management that currently exists within the NHS. Management experts and policy analysts identified what government and organisations must do to guide the NHS through current reforms.
Presentations and talks from the conference
Rt Hon Andrew Lansley CBE MP, Secretary of State for Health gave the keynote speech at this event. He spoke about the new role for leaders and managers in the NHS and the importance of finding leaders in all levels of the health system.
Andrew Lansley answered questions from delegates at our event, considering the need for horizontal integration to ensure high-quality patient care, questioning whether competition can drive quality as well as efficiency, and suggesting ways in which education and training will be supported.
Lord Tugendhat, Chairman, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Leadership and Management in the NHS Commissioner, gives an overview of the findings of our report and explains how it fits with current policies.
Professor Ross Baker, Department of Health Policy Management and Evaluation, University of Toronto, gave an international perspecitvie on high-quality leadership, at our event.
Dr Wai-yin Hatton, Chief Executive, NHS Ayrshire and Arraon gave a motivating speech on nurturing our future leaders at our event, offering practical tips and experience on NHS management.
Charlie Mayfield, Chairman, John Lewis Partnership, shares his lessons on employee-owned organisations, while explaining how to align risk, reward and motivation at our event.
