About this event

Public Health England works in partnership with national and local government and industry to promote public health and reduce inequalities.

Duncan Selbie will give us an overview of the newly formed Public Health England, setting out its aims and role in the new health and social care landscape. He will discuss the changes to the role of directors of public health, their interaction and relationships with the NHS and their positioning within local authorities.

Duncan Selbie

Duncan Selbie has worked in the NHS since January 1980. He commenced as Chief Executive of Public Health England on 1 July 2012. From 2007 to 2012 he was Chief Executive at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals. From 2003 to 2007 at the Department of Health he was the Director General of Programmes and Performance for the NHS and then subsequently the first Director General of Commissioning. Prior to this he held chief executive roles at the South East London Strategic Health Authority and the South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust.
