Designing Hospital Environments for People with Dementia
Overview
Building on our decade of experience in supporting real change in practice, we have designed these unique workshops in partnership with clinical and estates colleagues to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to deliver cost-effective environmental improvements.
Enhancing the Healing Environment
The King's Fund's award-winning Enhancing the Healing Environment programme proves that straightforward and inexpensive changes to the design and fabric of the care environment can have a considerable impact on the well-being of people with dementia by easing decision-making, reducing agitation and distress, supporting independence and promoting safety, all of which can contribute to a reduction in overall service costs.

Why you should attend
There is increasing evidence that the environment of care, particularly in acute hospitals, can have a significant and detrimental effect on people who have dementia.
What we offer
Building on our decade of experience in supporting real change in practice, we have designed these unique workshops in partnership with clinical and estates colleagues to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to deliver cost-effective environmental improvements.
Participants will hear from experts in the field of dementia care and design, engage with frontline teams that have completed successful refurbishments, and learn about our specially developed tools and techniques that have been proved to support co-design principles and about the engagement of patients, carers, and staff in design projects and ward refurbishments.
Maximising the opportunities afforded by a two-day residential event, sessions continue into the evening and are dynamic, practical and interactive, promoting networking and allowing time for participants to use The King's Fund's resources that are a key part of our approach.
