The findings

The survey questioned 500 GPs and 500 hospital doctors shortly after the consultation on the health White Paper closed.

The survey underlines the challenge facing the government in convincing doctors that the proposed reforms will improve the quality of care. It also reflects concerns that reforms may distract the NHS from the urgent task of improving productivity, with more than 40 per cent of respondants believing that GP commissioning will make it more difficult to tackle health inequalities.
