Approach

Our objectives are to:

  • maintain the momentum for change in the funding and delivery of social care, ensuring a new funding settlement remains on the agenda of politicians and policy-makers, highlighting the consequences of delay and inaction
  • offer impartial advice, commentary and briefings to political parties, the media and stakeholders within and beyond the social care sector
  • play a pivotal role in developing fresh policy thinking and analysis, identifying areas requiring further work and synergies with health and wider public service policies.

The programme will include:

  • developing some key tests that should be applied to the options set out in the Green Paper on options for reforming the funding and delivery of the care and support system
  • reviewing and refreshing the findings of the original Wanless Social Care Review to strengthen the case for change
  • providing an authoritative and swift analysis of the Green Paper options – in the context of personalised delivery models rather than traditional services
  • identifying potential impacts of reform on the whole system of health and social care.
