Approach
At The King's Fund we think it is essential for the improvement of health services to:
- understand practice
- share learning more widely about which interventions are more promising than others.
We do this by:
- working with practitioners to make explicit ideas and explanations about how projects work
- exploring what actually happens during the lifetime of a project – we can sharpen our joint understanding of the key success factors and transferrable learning
- seeing evaluation as a learning tool rather than a summing up at the end of the project
- using an evaluation model that encourages systematic enquiry to help identify and clarify barriers to progress – also making it a management tool.
