Streetwise Young People’s Project, Overall Winner 2009 IMPACT Awards

Organisations that win or are highly commended for an IMPACT Award will be invited to send two representatives to take part in a unique training course for charities working in the health sector.

Winning an IMPACT Award can be a significant turning point for an organisation. It gives organisations improved status (particularly with funders and commissioners) and many IMPACT winners received significant funding and expanded soon after winning.

The training provided by the Development Network supports organisations at an important stage in their development. The 2009 training took place over five days and focused on:

• financial management and governance
• evaluation
• human resource management
• engaging with hard-to-reach communities
• partnerships
• fundraising
• developing authority

The training is hosted by The King’s Fund, funded by GlaxoSmithKline, and is valued at around £3,500 for each organisation.

Our reviews and feedback have shown that the training has a lasting effect on organisations and is as important as the award money.
