Aims and outcomes
In support of the trust's commitment to improve the accident and emergency department, the project team undertook a redevelopment of the department's waiting area, with the aim of improving the comfort of patients waiting to be seen.
Specially commissioned mosaics and curved seating were integral parts of the interior design, which has transformed everything from the reception desk to the toilets in the waiting area. The project has also helped give staff within the department a sense of 'ownership' of the space.
