A paediatric ward for surgical patients at the Royal London Hospital

Aims and outcomes

In this project the team aimed to use the relocation of wards as an opportunity to create a special child-focused environment. It was important that the design took into account the specific needs of both younger children and teenage patients.

The team involved the patients in developing themes for murals that would be used to transform two bays in the children’s ward. The younger children chose a fish theme, while the teenage patients chose graffiti to enliven their environment.
