In 2007 Jocelyn founded The Point of Care at The King's Fund – a programme which aims to improve the experiences of staff and patients in acute hospitals.
Jocelyn’s academic training is in medical sociology and ethnography. After a period of research at the Open University, followed by three years managing NHS community health services, she worked in health regulation, first at the Audit Commission, where she directed national value for money studies and audits, and then at the Commission for Health Improvement (CHI) where she was director of policy and deputy chief executive 2000-2004.
Between 2009 to 2011, Jocelyn served as a panel member on a Public Inquiry into an outbreak of c.difficile in the Northern Trust, Northern Ireland.
She has recently retired from the board of trustees after 10 years at Connect UK: an innovative, user-led charity that works with people with aphasia. She is a trustee of the Picker Institute Europe.
