Rudolf Klein

Visiting Fellow

During his fellowship with The King's Fund, Rudolf will be looking at how rationing works in the NHS.

Born in Prague, Rudolf was educated in the UK and has an MA in History from the University of Oxford. He spent the first half of his career as a journalist with the London Evening Standard and The Observer. Following this he became Professor of Social Policy at the University of Bath.

Rudolf is a visiting professor at the London School of Economics and at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. He has gained many awards, including: Honorary Doctor of Arts (Oxford Brookes University), 1999 Margaret E Mahoney Award for Advancing International Exchange on Health Policy, and a CBE in 2001. In 2006 he was elected Fellow of the Academy of Medicine and Senior Fellow of the British Academy.

Rudolf has authored a number of books, including The New Politics of the NHS, the sixth edition of which was published in 2010.
